Want to know more about the facts and figures of last year’s Christmas Online Shopping?
We recently came across an article the 'Online Consumer Christmas Shopping Survey 2014' by Postcode Anywhere.
To gain more insight into online shopping behaviour, they surveyed over 1,000 UK consumers about their festive shopping experience and here some points that we found very interesting:-
56% of those surveyed said they shopped online this Christmas.
42% of online shoppers said they did their ecommerce Christmas shopping over the Black Friday weekend.
The top 6 Ecommerce checkout features were:-
- Fewer pages/steps to complete
- The option to checkout as a guest
- Multiple delivery options
- Multiple payment options
- Find my address feature
- Mobile friendly website
The main reasons for abandoning a purchase at checkout were:-
- Hidden prices at checkout
- Forced account creation
- Unsuitable delivery options
- Too many steps to purchase
- Checkout forms took too long
- Delivery address not recognised
It seems that checkout 'simplicity' is the key, not everyone likes to be forced to go through a registration process to allow them to purchase so the guest option should be available.
